Tune: Jupiter, Holst; Lyrics: J. Chin
Verse 1
As we gaze up to the heavens
and walk through flowers and fields,
we can lift our hearts in wonder
at all the pow’r revealed.
[But] who can trust his hearts’ desires?
Whose own mind does not deceive?
Who can stand in pureness, holy,
God’s hidden thoughts perceive?
Only you can name your glory
and clear the mystery;
Light our darkened minds with wisdom,
that blind hearts might you see.
Verse 2
As we read salvation’s story
you walk with us beside;
Thankful you have not stayed silent,
your word’s our one true guide.
There we see your promised glory,
taste the bread your word provides,
hear your voice that shook the mountain,
and learn your name described:
as the Lord whose words are perfect,
whose law revives the soul,
who is righteous and redeemer,
of greater worth than gold.
Verse 3
As we long for truth and knowledge,
in Christ alone resounds
all the treasures of your mystery;
in him you’re truely found.
For he spoke your life and power,
and commanded death to flee.
As the Word-divine now with us,
all his words we must heed.
True in Christ is every promise;
In him is victory.
He’s the King whose words are reigning;
who lives and intercedes.
Verse 4
As we long to see your Kingdom,
His Spirit speaks your Word.
He exposes all our secrets,
and teaches all the world.
But he washes those who listen
and unveils our hearts to you.
With your word inscribed upon us
we know your mind in truth.
So we stand in full assurance,
on your unfailing word,
[and] take the power of your Scriptures
to proclaim Christ as Lord.
